Identity verification research methodology

The research asks whether a concrete identity or account-verification mechanism has public supporting evidence and what access limits apply. National digital-ID adoption alone is insufficient to establish an enterprise API. Unconfirmed means the investigation did not establish a route; it does not mean no service exists.

Evidence hierarchy

Prefer an official service or developer page that identifies a mechanism and access conditions. Record commercial-provider documentation as provider-specific evidence, not a promise for all banks, operators or residents. Preserve historical World Bank indicators with their original years: the 2021 digital-verification and 2024 online-identity observations are background, not 2026 service availability.

Traceable revisions

The archive preserves an initial version, a corrected version, row-level comparisons and source snapshots. A country can move between groups when new service evidence changes the access conclusion. Preserve the original cutoff and a correction explanation instead of silently replacing the historical finding.

Publication boundary

The public export includes country-level classifications, capability notes, public source URLs and research dates. Private correspondence, account status, credentials, test samples and supplier-commercial tracking are excluded. Mexico and Indonesia pages summarize a dated research finding and are distinct from their controlled pilot pages.
